Mo Salah will not be available for Liverpool’s trip to Brighton and will miss Egypt’s friendly with Spain over the international break, Arne Slot has revealed.
Salah was taken off late in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Galatasaray on Wednesday after asking to be substituted, though Slot suggested the 33-year-old may be fit to return to action for Liverpool’s FA Cup quarter-final at Man City in a fortnight’s time.
“It’s unusual and as a result you can expect the outcome,” he said. “He won’t be available for tomorrow.
“The good thing for us is that we go to an international break, the bad thing for Egypt is that he won’t be able to go.
“What Mo has shown in the past is that he can recover faster than other players might be able to in similar situations because he takes such good care of his body.
“But it’s only two weeks until we go again so let’s hope in that period of time he can be back.”
