Security man who said coronavirus is a hoax granted GH₵100k bail

The Accra Circuit Court has granted a GH₵100, 000 bail to a private security man, who accused President Akufo-Addo of using lockdown directive to kill Ghanaians.

The accused, in a viral video said, “the lockdown and social distancing containment was a hoax, a deliberate attempt by the president to deceive the public and allow the telecommunications companies to install 5G networks which causes death.”

The 24-year-old, Bless Amedegbe alias Don Dada Bless, has been granted bail with two sureties, one of whom must be a public officer earning not less than GH₵ 1,000.

He was charged on two counts; circulating false communication and assault on a public officer.

The lawyer for the accused person, Yaw Dankwa, told the court presided over by Emmanuel Essandoh that he was yet to receive the previous proceedings he had requested.

He argued that he would be able to represent his client well once he receives the court document.

The prosecution, led by Detective Frederick Sarpong, did not oppose the bail application proposed by the lawyer.

Detective Sarpong said the prosecution had already filed its disclosures to the court registrar.

The case continues on June 10, 2020.
