Security Man Killed In Oxygen Cylinder Explosion At Eastern Regional Hospital
A security man at the Eastern Regional Hospital at Koforidua has allegedly met his untimely death after a medical oxygen cylinder exploded.
The incident occurred on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at around 9 pm.
According to reports, the victim was assisting with offloading the cylinders at the hospital’s Oxygen Unit when one crashed on the ground and exploded.
He suffered injuries to his face, upper arm, and abdomen. His upper arm was said to have shattered.
He passed on after being rushed to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
According to a witness, a security officer at the facility, the business assigned to replace the oxygen did not have enough workers when they arrived at the hospital, so they requested assistance from the victim.
Other store owners near the hospital stated they heard loud explosions and pleas for help inside the hospital during the incident.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s administration and the police have not commented on the incident.
