The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has assured the public that cement prices will remain stable, allaying fears of a possible increase in the cost of the essential construction material.
She explained that the government has been holding continuous discussions with stakeholders in the cement industry to maintain price stability while also improving product quality.
The Minister added that her most recent meeting with industry players took place on Monday, January 19, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to address concerns within the sector.
“I have already engaged the players in the cement industry, and the latest one was on Monday, and the engagement with them was to focus on improving quality and price stability,” she said.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare noted that current economic conditions, particularly the relative stability of the cedi against the dollar, do not justify any increase in cement prices.
She stressed that the government is closely monitoring developments in the sector to protect consumers.
“It is worth learning that where the dollar is now, prices must be stable, and I am happy to reiterate the point that the prices of cement are not going to go up,” the Trade Minister emphasised.
