Sam George Takes Down Facebook Post On ECG
The Member of Parliament(MP) for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Sam George has taken down his Facebook post about an alleged cyber attack on the systems of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
According to the MP, he deleted the Facebook Post out of respect for the ongoing audit and maintenance work the ECG is embarking to resolve the challenges customers have been facing with regards to buying prepaid credits.
“I have taken down my ECG post out of respect for the work i have been informed is being done on the matter. i do not intend in any way to compromise the remedial steps underway. I can assure you all that I would continue to follow the matter and update the public on the actions taken to ensure such treachery against our Country NEVER happens again! For God and Country” he wrote.
In the deleted Facebook post, the member of parliament claimed the challenges with the ECG are extremely serious and that the attack on ECG’s system was not external but carried out by what he described as “cabal of criminals” within the organization.
With reference to the Facebook post, the MP indicated that as a matter of urgency the government must commence a forensic investigation into the IT department of the ECG, adding that his information points to a group that has been siphoning over Gh200 million every month.
He further stated that the issue with the ECG was an internal power play to cripple the new MD who has dared to open investigations into matters.
