The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has expressed strong optimism about the New Patriotic Party’s chances in the 2028 general elections, telling party members that victory remains firmly within reach despite being in opposition.

In a Christmas message addressed to supporters, Mr Afenyo-Markin reminded the party that only one year has passed under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, with three more years still ahead before the next national polls.

He encouraged members to remain focused, disciplined and hopeful as the party prepares for the future.

The Minority Leader’s remarks come at a time when the NPP is gearing up for its internal primaries to elect a new flagbearer on 31 January.

He used the occasion to call for unity and mutual respect among party faithful, warning that internal divisions could weaken the party’s standing with the electorate.

Addressing grassroots members, popularly known as foot soldiers, Mr Afenyo-Markin praised their dedication and urged them to continue working for the collective good of the party and the country.

“I see and sense victory ahead, 2028,” he said.

He further appealed to party members to protect the values and traditions that have sustained the NPP over the years.

According to him, the sacrifices made by the party’s founders and past leaders should not be taken lightly or undermined by personal ambition or internal conflict.

Mr Afenyo Markin stressed that the conduct of members in the lead up to the flagbearer contest would shape public perception of the party.

He cautioned against actions that could damage the NPP’s unity, credibility and moral authority, noting that these qualities are essential for rebuilding trust and mounting a strong challenge in the next election cycle.
