Several areas in the Ashanti Region will experience a disruption in their water supply following the temporary shutdown of the Qwabi Treatment Plant, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has said.

A statement from the authority attributed the shutdown to technical challenges encountered at the plant on Sunday, June 18.

The affected areas are Asuoyeboah, Tanoso, Apatrapa, Pokukrom, Bobankye, Nyankyereniase, Esaase, Akropong, Ntensere, Mfensi, and Koforidua.

Manhyia, Maakro, Agogo, Twedie, Nkawie, Mim, Toase, Afari, Wiosi, Abuakwa, and their surrounding environs will also be affected.

The GWCL assured the public that its team is actively working to address the technical challenge and restore water flow to the affected areas.
