President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved all statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the former administration in line with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).
The announcement was made in a statement issued and signed by the Acting Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Monday, January 13, 2025.
According to the notice, all individuals who were appointed to serve on these boards, commissions and councils by the former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or a former Minister of State ceased to hold office as of January 7, 2025, the date of President Mahama’s swearing-in.
The statement added that the reconstitution of the affected boards, commissions, councils, and statutory corporations will take place in due course, in accordance with their respective enabling laws.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this excludes commissions that are independent constitutional creations,” the release clarified.
The incumbent President also expressed profound gratitude to all outgoing members for their dedication and service to the nation, wishing them well in their future endeavours.
In addition, the notice directed the management of these statutory bodies to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before making any further decisions, pending the reconstitution of their respective boards.
