Premier League more intense than Ligue 1 — Barcola

Former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) player, now Liverpool forward Bradley Barcola has highlighted the difference between Ligue 1 and the English Premier League, describing the intensity and relentless pace of English football as a major challenge for players.

Speaking to French television, the France international explained that while Ligue 1 is characterised by physical battles and strong defenders, the Premier League demands a different level of speed and endurance.

“In Ligue 1, the players are physical, and there are some strong defenders. But in the Premier League, it’s all about the pace,” Barcola said.

The PSG attacker revealed that he struggled physically during his first few matches in England, admitting that he suffered from cramps as he adjusted to the demands of the competition.

“I suffered from cramps in my first few games. You don’t have time to rest,” he added.

The Premier League is widely recognised for its high-tempo style, intense pressing and quick transitions.

Ligue 1, meanwhile, is also known for producing physically strong and technically gifted players, making defensive duels a significant feature of the competition.

Barcola has established himself as an important attacking option for Liverpool, using his pace, dribbling ability and movement to trouble opposing defences.
