Police suspend training activities for recruits over coronavirus fears
The Ghana Police Service has sent home its recruits undergoing training at the various academies across the country. It is part of measures to curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
The police, in a statement, announced that it has suspended the training of recruits till further notice.
According to the statement, the police had released recruits other than the final/passing out squad to go home until further directives.
It also said, “arrangements have been made for Police personnel, including civilian components to receive sufficient education and knowledge on the pandemic, its spread, preventive measures and what to do in case of suspicion of infection both at home and in the course of work.”
“Specific in-house briefing and arrangements have also been made for frontline officers and those who perform specific duties under circumstances which are likely to expose them to COVID-19. These include arresting officers, investigations, patrol officers and traffic control officers,” the statement stated.
