Police arrest suspect over unlawful entry, stealing at Spintex

The police have arrested a suspect related to unlawful entry and theft at Spintex in Accra.

This arrest comes after a complaint was filed stating that on March 4, 2026, a resident returned home from work around 1600 hours and found her house had been forcibly entered.

According to a police news brief, the complainant reported that cash totalling GH¢1,000 and US$22,350, along with other personal belongings, had been taken.

Following police investigations, the suspect, identified as Daniel Odai Afotey, was arrested at Laboma Beach on March 11, 2026, based on intelligence gathered by the police.

A search of the suspect’s room resulted in the recovery of the stolen items and additional suspected stolen goods, including gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones, and a television set.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and mentioned an accomplice known only as “Ewonam,” who is currently evading capture.

The Police stated that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the accomplice.

The suspect is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, March 16, 2026.

The Police indicated that they are working to identify the owners of the remaining recovered items and encouraged individuals who may have lost property under similar circumstances in the Spintex, Teshie, Nungua, and surrounding areas to reach out to the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters for assistance with identification.
