NPP Expresses Displeasure Over Alan’s Withdrawal

Story By: David Apinga

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed disappointment over the decision by flagbearer aspirant Alan Kyerematen to discontinue his ambition to lead the party into the 2024 elections.

Mr Kyerematen withdrew from the race on Tuesday, September 5, citing intimidation and assault on his polling agents during the party’s internal elections to reduce the number of aspirants to five.

The development leaves only four aspirants to participate in the balloting on Wednesday, September 6 and the upcoming primaries scheduled for November 4, to select a flagbearer.

While accepting the development, the NPP said, “We note with regret Hon. Kyerematen’s decision to withdraw from the upcoming presidential primaries”.

This was contained in a statement on September 6, signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.

The party said it will investigate concerns by Mr Kyerematen and other issues related to the processes.
