Not more than 25 students in a class – Akufo-Addo orders
From Monday, June 22, all final year Senior High School students will return to school but with classroom sizes reducing.
A typical classroom holding a capacity of 50 to 70 will now have a maximum of 25 students.
A major complaint about the free senior high school education in some schools was congestion. But as the final year students return to school amid the covid-19 spread, the government has adopted limited class sizes to curtail a blowout.
The President announced the measure in his 12th Address to the nation on progress made in COVID-19 fight.
“A maximum of 25 students will be permitted in each class. All day students in schools with boarding houses will be resident in these boarding houses.
“Day students with no boarding houses will commute from home, and will be required to adhere to enhance hygiene protocols,” he directed.
President Akufo-Addo further said to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus, no visitor would be allowed in these schools.
Sporting, religious, entertainment activities and all forms of social gathering has been banned completely.
In addition, the wearing of face masks and social distancing are obligatory.
Eating in dining halls will be in appropriate numbers.
