Hamza Nuhu, a homosexual believed to be operating in Nima, Mamobi and Dansoman in Accra, has managed to escape from the grips of a vigilante group.
He was attacked by the group last Thursday after a ‘whistleblower’ blew his cover. However sources say he feigned death after being beaten, and later escaped.
According to Yussif Issah alias “Zion”, he was at the Labadi Beach having fun when he spotted Hamza with another man engaged in lewd homosexual acts.
“I was shocked but I made sure he saw me! He was a footballer we all respected. But knowing the kind of person he is now, we cannot allow him in this community,” he said.
Hamza was said to have been beaten by the boys of the area for close to 30 minutes, after the revelation by Zion.
An attempt to speak to Hamza’s father, a respected Islamic Scholar, was however unsuccessful.
“We don’t know who is gay or who is straight anymore. This gay thing is becoming scary,” said Karimu Hero, a member of the vigilante group, in a chat.
“Hamza comes from a family of ‘masculine’ football players. But look at what we have just discovered about him. Who knows who else is involved? But in sha Allah (God-willing) we will catch all of them one after the other,” he stressed.
