The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a suspected key player in the local drug trade following a major operation in Buduburam and nearby communities in the Gomoa East Municipality of the Central Region on Friday, January 16, 2026.
The suspect, a 32-year-old woman identified as Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as “Mother,” is believed to be a central figure in illicit drug activities in the area.
Local community leaders describe her as a well-known and long-suspected dealer who had previously managed to evade arrest.
The operation forms part of NACOC’s nationwide efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse.
During the raid, officers seized quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, along with items believed to be used in drug distribution.
Several other individuals linked to drug-related activities were also arrested.
According to NACOC, the main suspect had been under close surveillance for some time due to her alleged involvement in multiple drug trafficking operations.
The Commission said it had received numerous complaints from the public about the illegal activities of those arrested.
NACOC confirmed that all suspects will be processed and arraigned before court in accordance with the law.
The Commission also reassured the public of its continued commitment to combating drug abuse and making Ghana a drug-free nation.
