Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves hit the game winning shot to give the Lakers a 116-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves and talking through the situation that led to his big moment, Reaves said he had to keep the energy up in that moment.
Playing without injured stars LeBron James and Luka Doncic, the Lakers battled hard against the Timberwolves who played without guard Anthony Edwards who is nursing a hamstring injury.
Reaves registered 28 points and 16 assists in 40 minutes in the win with recent additions Deandre Ayton and Jake LaRavia adding 17 points and 27 points respectively.
Speaking to ESPN after leading the Lakers to its third win in five games, Reaves said it felt good to hit the winning shot.
“Everybody is looking at me, and in those situations, you have to be calm, be confident and lead your guys through [it].”

“It’s hard to not kind of crumble in those situations but you got to keep energy high, you got to keep the spirit high. That one felt good. I mean, for obvious reasons, we won” Reaves said.

The Lakers next take on the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, November 1; Austin Reaves is averaging 34.2 points, 10 assists and 5.6 rebounds this season.
