The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested 13 people during a major drug raid at Akuapem Akropong in the Eastern Region.

The surprise operation, carried out in the early hours of Thursday, targeted drinking bars and suspected drug dens in the town.

According to NACOC officials, the exercise forms part of the Commission’s ongoing nationwide campaign to combat the sale and use of illegal drugs in local communities.

During the operation, officers seized a variety of narcotic substances, including quantities of cannabis, hashish, ecstasy tablets, and “Collos,” a strong strain of cannabis.

The team also discovered synthetic opioids such as Tramadol, along with cannabis-infused beverages like bitters and locally brewed sobolo drinks.

All the items have been confiscated as evidence while forensic tests are being conducted to support further investigations.

The 13 suspects are currently in custody and undergoing screening for possible prosecution.

NACOC has called on residents to assist law enforcement agencies by sharing information that can help identify individuals or groups involved in drug trafficking and illegal drug use.
