Chaos erupted in Adeemera Electoral Area in the Eastern Region when a mother allegedly attacked her 12-year-old son with a cutlass over a mobile phone dispute.
The suspect, 38-year-old Mavis Vinyo, a matron at St. Mary’s Vocational Institute in Donkorkrom, reportedly became enraged after her son picked up her phone to play music while she was cooking.
She allegedly struck him on the head, inflicting serious injuries.
A security officer on duty at the time rushed the boy to Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care.
Authorities have since arrested Ms. Vinyo, who is expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.
Police investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the attack, which appears to have been triggered by a dispute over the mobile phone.
