A man reported to be in his 50s has allegedly committed suicide at Ejura Sekyedumase in the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, Boakye Sarfo, was found hanging from a mango tree on Sunday, February 25th, 2024.
Residents discovered the scene around midday, prompting emergency services to respond promptly.
The deceased was reported to be a staff member of the Ejura Government Hospital.
Confirming the incident, the assemblyman of the area, Kwa-Sam Samuel, said, “I can confirm that the body has been identified and he is a worker at the Ejura Government Hospital…We have also discovered some exhibits, including a mobile phone on him which was switched off. We can’t ascertain whether he was murdered, or he committed suicide, and this is for the police to ascertain.”
“Initially, the plan was to bury the body at the scene. This is a man who has been away for about three days now. His wife tried calling him but was not successful, only for her to be hit with this sad news. For now, we have informed his family and the elders in Ejura because he is a native,” the assemblyman stated.
The police have commenced investigations into the situation.
This unfortunate incident occurred at Akrampa in the Awutu Bereku district of the Central Region.
It was reported that the deceased drank dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) insecticide after losing ¢16,000 within two weeks.
Sources indicated that the angry boss suspected Gideon had squandered the money after he turned off his phone and deleted all his pictures and contacts from social media.
He then reported the matter to the police in Awutu Bereku.
Out of fear of going to jail, Gideon poisoned himself.
Residents were shocked at the sudden demise of the young and promising Gideon, whom they described as hard-working.
