Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has promised to stabilize the economy if given the nod in December 2024.
The flagbearer and former president gave this assurance during a presentation of the manifesto to the Trades Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday, November 7.
Mr Mahama reiterated his commitment to implementing practical economic policies aimed at reducing public debt, controlling inflation, and limiting the central bank’s financing of the government through the Bank of Ghana.
He stressed the need to address the economic decline and restore stability to the country’s financial landscape.
Mr Mahama also pledged to protect workers’ rights and welfare, reflecting his commitment to the labor force.
Taking his turn, the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, Dr. Yaw Baah, called for a comprehensive review of the macroeconomic policy framework to create jobs, ensure food security, address housing needs, and uphold workers’ rights, ultimately enhancing the socio-economic landscape in Ghana.
The NDC flagbearer’s meeting with TUC aligns with his vision for a stable and prosperous Ghana. He is set to launch his “Building Ghana Tour” ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The tour which will begin later this month is to actively engage with Ghanaians, reinvigorate the NDC, and lay the groundwork for the upcoming presidential campaign.
