Mahama tours Volta, Oti Regions

Former President and leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, will today, August 17, begin a four-day tour of the Volta Region.

He will subsequently tour the Oti Region for three days.

“While on the visit, the former president will meet with traditional rulers, opinion leaders organised labour, supporters, members, and activist of the party” a statement from the party said.

The former president who is seeking re-election in the 2020 general election while on the tour will highlight the NDC’s “superior record in infrastructural development” as well as re-state his commitment to developing the new six regions created by the government of Ghana.

“Mr. Mahama’s visit comes after the just-ended voter registration exercise which saw the government’s deployment of armed soldiers, immigration and other security personnel in both the regions to harass and intimidate eligible voters from getting their names on the register,”  the statement said.

While he is in the South, his running mate, Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang, is in the northern part of the country campaigning.
