In the aftermath of the NPP presidential primaries, Mussa Dankwah, the head of Global Info Analytics, has utilised the results to emphasise important lessons regarding political analysis and the appropriate application of polling data.
In response to critics who challenged his forecasts, Mr. Dankwah stated that elections should be examined in light of their specific circumstances.
“Those arguing that it was not possible for Kennedy Agyapong to underperform his 2023 numbers should learn a lesson,” he said.
“No two elections are the same. Just analyse the variables and see if they are the same.”
He underscored the necessity of careful interpretation of polling data.
“Not everyone has the eyes to see what pollsters can see,” he remarked.
Mr. Dankwah further clarified the distinction between polling and research activities.
“There is a difference between pollsters and researchers,” he stated.
“Pollsters provide the lead and researchers go in to probe why. Pollsters can only triangulate.”
He advised party supporters and analysts to refrain from misusing survey data.
“Small advice to wannabe party researchers: don’t turn polls into in-depth research. The objectives are not the same,” he added.
He indicated that a lack of understanding of polling methodologies frequently results in incorrect assumptions about voter behavior and campaign effectiveness.
