Iglesias blasts refereeing after Sevilla’s 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid

Sevilla defender Juan Iglesias has criticised the officiating following his side’s 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, claiming that controversial decisions influenced the outcome of the La Liga encounter.

Speaking after the match, Iglesias questioned an alleged first-half foul by Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler on Sevilla forward Peque, insisting the incident should have been penalised.

“The match was decided by the referee’s decisions. Güler fouled Peque in the first half,” Iglesias said.

The defender also raised concerns over an incident involving Ibrahima Konaté and Robbie Ure, alleging that the Sevilla player was fouled before Real Madrid scored their second goal.
“Before the 2-0, Konaté fouled Robbie Ure,” he added.

Iglesias further suggested that Sevilla had anticipated a difficult encounter at the home of the Spanish giants, saying: “We already knew what we were getting into by coming to the Santiago Bernabéu.”

Real Madrid secured the victory through goals from Güler, Diomande and Kylian Mbappé, who scored twice to complete their four-goal tally. Sevilla managed a consolation goal but could not prevent a heavy defeat.

The result strengthened Real Madrid’s position in the La Liga campaign, while Sevilla were left frustrated by both the scoreline and the disputed incidents.
