The Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North Andy Appiah-Kubi has emphatically denied his involvement in the closure of Salt 95.9 FM in the Ashanti Region by the National Communications Authority (NCA).

Responding to accusations linking him and the ruling NPP government to the shutdown, the lawmaker expressed surprise and clarified that he had no discussions with the NCA officials regarding Salt FM’s closure.

According to Mr. Appiah-Kubi, the allegation is false as the shutdown was not initiated or influenced by any government official within his knowledge.

He distanced himself from the situation, emphasizing that he was unaware of any government attempt to close the radio station in his constituency.

Following the closure of Salt FM, some residents of Agogo took to the streets on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in protest to express their discontent.

Subsequently, Mr Appiah-Kubi pledged solidarity with Salt FM, vowing to use his position as an MP to support the station in resuming its broadcast soon.
