A 28-year-old mother and her two children have been burnt to death in an inferno at Abuakwa in the Atwiman Nwabiagya South District of the Ashanti Region.

The fire gutted their four-bedroom house in the early hours of Wednesday, February 1, trapping them inside.

The mother, Abigail Yeboah, and her two daughters, Norah Yeboah 9, and Philipa Yeboah, 6, were reportedly asleep when the fire started.

According to eyewitnesses, two other occupants of the house, however, managed to escape unharmed.

Some residents who rushed to the scene to rescue the victims said they heard them screaming for help but the fire was far advanced to allow entry into the house.

The intervention of firefighters, however, prevented the fire from spreading to other structures nearby.

However, the entire four-bedroom house was destroyed by the blazing fire.

The cause of the fire is not immediately known.

Meanwhile, personnel from the Ghana Police and Fire Service have retrieved the bodies from the scene.

This comes after a police officer, his wife, and their four-month-old baby were also burnt to death barely two weeks ago at Apromase in the Ashanti Region.

Sergeant Owusu Asante Baafi, who was with the anti-armed robbery squad, his wife Yaa Achiaa, and their four-month-old baby died after a fire razed their apartment at the barracks where they lived.
