Gunmen open fire on bus, critically injure 2 in Walewale

Two people have reportedly been shot after assailants opened fire on a bus travelling from Bolgatanga to Kumasi.

The event took place near the township of Walewale on Tuesday, December 16.

The bus, operated by Great Imperial Express and bearing the registration number GY 3199-21, is believed to have been targeted due to ongoing tensions in the region.

The assault left the bus driver and another passenger in critical condition.

Both victims were swiftly transported to Walewale Hospital for urgent medical care.

The police have confirmed the occurrence of the attack and are currently investigating the motive while also working to identify the offenders.
