Guinness provides GH¢10m stimulus package for bar owners

Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC has launched a new campaign dubbed “Rise Up,” with a commitment of GH¢10 million stimulus  package for trade partners to boost profitability.

The campaign, which is a continuation of the ‘Yεn Nyin Mbom’ loyalty programme launched last year, is an offering to give back to trade partners and customers and to add value to their businesses as they transition from the blow of COVID-19 scourge , back into operations.

At the launch of the campaign yesterday in Accra, the company   indicated that it had invested an additional GH¢10 million to cover the installation of veronica buckets and other Personal  Protective Equipment (PPE) at bars.

Fridges, microwaves, cash rewards, free drinks, DSTV installation and educational posters were given out to drive adherence to safety protocols among others to keep themselves as well as consumers safe.

This followed the announcement of the re-opening of open-air bars nationwide.
Guinness Ghana had sought to find innovative and creative ways among its trade partners to support them during the global pandemic.

Delivering his remarks at the event launch, Commercial Director, Obinna Anyabelechi stressed “we are always being challenged to find innovative ways to support our customers in their business journey.”

He revealed that the ‘Yεn Nyin Mbom’ loyalty programme saw many trade partners receiving rewards that had gone a long way to improve their businesses and customer base.

Mr. Anyabelech noted that the restrictions on the hospitality sector had caused a great impact that could not be overlooked.

He announced that the launch of the ‘Rise Up’ campaign was to assure partners that “Guinness is with them and is ready to help them rise up, as they bounce back from the effects of COVID-19.”

The commercial director admonished all trade partners to ensure that they followed all protocols that had been put in place by the World Health Organization and the government of Ghana, to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Speaking on behalf of Mr Akwasi Agyemang, CEO, Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr Alex Boakye said “government, as well as businesses, are having to re-strategize and implement plans to mitigate the adverse effects of the pandemic on one of the fastest-growing sectors of the economy and the sector that could potentially employ 125,000 people directly and a further 313, 000 indirectly.”

Mr Boakye noted that the tourism sector played an important part in providing employment to raise living standards.

“I am very optimistic that ‘Rise Up’, the new campaign will be pivotal in improving your tourist sites and bar business which will further integrate into the national economy” he added.
