Ghana’s Daniel Laryea assigned for crucial CAF Champions League game

Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea has been selected as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for the upcoming CAF Champions League semi-final first-leg match between TP Mazembe and Al Ahly.

Laryea has been an experienced international referee for both CAF and FIFA since 2014 and is highly skilled in the operations of VAR technology.

His presence in the tournament highlights CAF’s commitment to ensuring fair and accurate officiating.

Laryea will be assisted by a panel of distinguished officials, which includes Pacifique Ndabihawenimana from Burundi as the main referee, and a team of skilled assistants from Angola, Benin, and Togo. Rwandan and Madagascan officials will oversee key administrative roles.

The match will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi. It promises to be a high-stakes game between two of Africa’s footballing powerhouses, with both teams vying for a coveted spot in the Champions League final.
