Ghana’s COVID-19 case count now 6,096 as recoveries hit 1,773

Ghana’s coronavirus situation has jumped into a 6,000 milestone following the confirmation of 178 new cases.

The number of recovered patients also stands at 1,773, with 19 more COVID-19-free patients joining the list. The death toll remains 31.

The Ghana Health Service disclosed the latest update on its COVID-19 website on Tuesday night.

The latest update indicated that there had been an increase in the number of cases in four regions–Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Central.

Greater Accra still has the highest number of confirmed cases, followed by the Ashanti, Central and Western Regions.

Regional breakdown are as follows: Greater Accra has confirmed cases of 4, 536, Ashanti has 886 cases, Central has 258, Western has a record of 111.

There has been a lot of agitations and concern since Ghana eased restrictions on April 20, 2020. The number of cases has been increasing since the restriction on movement was lifted.

The increase in cases seems to have created some form of panic among the populace, with parents and pre-tertiary public school teachers, not in favour of re-opening schools.
