The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially charged two officials of Asante Kotoko SC following incidents that allegedly occurred after their Ghana Premier League clash with Karela United FC.

In a regulatory update released for the 2025/2026 football season, the GFA confirmed that Kotoko goalkeeper, Mohamed Camara, and the club’s Welfare Officer, Kwasi Frimpong Amos, have been cited for breaches of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019.

According to the statement, both officials have been charged under Article 12(1)(i) of the disciplinary code following events that allegedly took place after the Ghana Premier League encounter between the two clubs.

The GFA alleges that Mohamed Camara confronted the referee after the match and assaulted him while using insulting and abusive language as well as gestures. Such conduct, if proven, would constitute a serious violation of the disciplinary regulations governing players’ and officials’ conduct in Ghanaian football.

The statement further indicated that Kwasi Frimpong Amos is also facing charges for his role in the incident. The Kotoko welfare officer is alleged to have forcefully seized a red card from the referee during the altercation and interfered with the referee’s authority. Interference with match officials is considered a major disciplinary offence under the GFA’s regulations, which are designed to protect the integrity and authority of referees during and after matches.

The incidents are believed to have occurred immediately after the match between Asante Kotoko and Karela United. However, the GFA has not yet provided additional details about the outcome of the game or the circumstances that led to the confrontation.

As part of the disciplinary process, both Mohamed Camara and Kwasi Frimpong Amos have been allowed to respond to the allegations. The GFA stated that the two individuals must submit their official responses to the charges before the close of Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
