The second batch of recruits into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has reported to training centres across the country to begin a six-month Basic Military Training programme designed to prepare them for military service.
According to a Facebook post by the GAF, the recruits reported to their respective training centres on Friday, October 23, 2026, to officially begin their training.
The recruits have been deployed to five training schools: the Army Recruit Training School, Air Force Recruit Training School, Navy Recruit Training School, Armour Training School and Army Special Operations Training School.
Throughout the six-month programme, the recruits will undergo intensive training aimed at developing discipline, professionalism and a strong understanding of the core values of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The training will cover several key military subjects, including field craft, first aid, weapon handling, drill, map reading and physical training.
The programme is designed to equip the recruits with the practical skills and knowledge needed to meet the standards of the Armed Forces while upholding its traditions and values.
The GAF says the training will provide guidance throughout the recruits’ time at their respective training schools as they prepare to take on future military responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has announced that the government will not open applications for new recruitment into the various security services in 2027, as it focuses on addressing the existing backlog of qualified applicants awaiting enlistment.
The minister explained that the decision follows directives from President John Dramani Mahama. He added that the government intends to give priority to applicants who have completed the recruitment process and met all the requirements but could not be admitted for training because of limited space.
