Foreign Minister receives mortal remains of Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy
The body of the late Ghana Ambassador to Italy, Mrs Eudora Quartey-Koranteng, has touched down in Ghana for final funeral rights and burial.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, received the mortal remains at the Kotoka International Airport on Saturday, after arrival on board a Turkish Airline flight TK 629.
The body was accompanied by officials of the Ghana Embassy in Rome, Italy.
Shortly after arrival, a solemn ceremony was held which was attended by members of her family and government officials.
Ambassador Eudora Quartey-Koranteng succeeded Paulina Patience Abayage after she was recalled to serve as the Upper East Regional Minister in 2019.
She assumed office on 11 June 2019, after presenting her letters of credence to President Sergio Mattarella, in the Italian capital, Rome.
Ambassador Eudora Quartey-Koranteng was noted for improving the efficiency of the Mission through the introduction of an effective online and passport printing system.
In one year, she had installed and operationalized the Embassy’s Biometric Passport Printing System.
