First Batch of Pilgrims Arrive In Ghana

The first batch of Ghanaian Hajj pilgrims have returned home safely after the 2023 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

This year, about 4,000 Ghanaian pilgrims went to Mecca in Saudi Arabia to participate in the Hajj.

The Hajj Board chaired by Ben Abdallah Banda noted that as of Sunday night, 10 flights were scheduled to airlift the pilgrims to Tamale and Accra respectively.

Ben Abdallah Banda and some board members accompanied the pilgrims on the first flight from Tamale to Jeddah to see to their return journey.

He congratulated the pilgrims on a successful Hajj and wished them a safe trip back to Ghana.

Meanwhile, the board indicated that there are four more daily flights to Tamale after Sunday, before another set of 5 flights airlift the remaining pilgrims to Accra, starting next weekend.

Ben Abdallah Banda, was accompanied by board members namely Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa, Masaudu Osman, Ahmed Abdulai Abu, and Alhaji Yunus Osman.

The first flight arrived in Tamale on Monday, July 10, 2023.

The Ghanaian pilgrims were airlifted to Mecca in Saudi Arabia by the Hajj Board on June 9, 2023.

The Board earlier announced that over 6,000 Ghanaian pilgrims were expected to participate in the Hajj, however, about 4,000 people were able to register for the Hajj.
