Fire destroys room in Koforidua apartment

A fire broke out in a residential apartment at Nsukwao, near the Safe Gold Hotel in Koforidua, damaging one of the rooms and destroying personal belongings.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a distress call at exactly 10:19 am.

In response, a team of eight firefighters from the Municipal Fire Station was quickly dispatched with a fire tender.

They arrived on the scene within minutes and moved fast to contain the blaze.

The fire affected one room in a seven-bedroom apartment. Thanks to the swift action of the fire crew, the flames were prevented from spreading to the rest of the building.

By 10:40 am, the fire had been brought under control and fully extinguished.

While no one was injured, the affected room suffered partial structural damage. The occupant lost most of their personal items in the fire.

Residents in the area gathered to watch as firefighters worked to secure the scene. Some expressed concern about fire safety in residential buildings and the importance of early reporting in emergencies.

The GNFS is urging the public to prioritise safety by checking electrical connections regularly and ensuring fire extinguishers are available in homes.
