Awudu Imoro, the father of the slain soldier at Ashaiman, has recounted the events that led to the death of his son.
Trooper Imoro Sherrif was stabbed and killed by unknown assailants at Ashaiman-Taifa on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
Social media has been rife with speculations that he was returning from his girlfriend when he was attacked by a ‘rival’.
But according to the grieving father, those reports are false and denigrate his son’s good image.
“The family is not happy about media reports against my son. Some people reported that he was killed after leaving his girlfriend’s house. Others also say he is dating a sugar mummy and all sorts of lies. Some even said he was killed and burnt; meanwhile, my son is in the morgue at 37 Hospital. We are very saddened,” he lamented.
He told Adom FM in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report that, contrary to the viral reports, his son was on his way to visit the family on the fateful day when the unfortunate incident happened.
Imoro Sherrif was stationed at Sunyani. He was in Accra for a military course and, in the last three weeks, had been visiting the parents in their home at Ashaiman every Friday.
Last Friday would have been the third time he was going home.
“My son was on his way home that fateful day when some people ambushed and killed him. He was coming home when there was a traffic jam, so he got down to walk, and that’s how he got to the court and was killed; he was alone. They stabbed him mercilessly.
“I haven’t been able to go the scene, but my elder brothers who went there told me he was stabbed in the shoulder, ribs and they slashed his hand,” he narrated.
Describing his son, Mr Imoro said his “boy” was an embodiment of peace and respect. He said Sherrif was a peace-loving person who had no issues with anyone.
He, therefore, wondered how anyone could take his life in such a ruthless manner.
“My son is such a calm boy, so I don’t understand why someone would kill him just like that. He doesn’t even have friends. He was born here at Ashaiman 21 years ago and went to school here all his life before he had the chance into the military,” Mr Imoro added.
Meanwhile, the distraught father said he had not received his son’s body for burial per Islamic laws since he is a Muslim.
He said Imoro Sherrif’s body is still at the 37 Military Hospital pending autopsy.
“We have not received the body of my son yet. He should be buried by now, per our laws. Doctors at the hospital said they need to conduct an autopsy before, so we are waiting for the release of his body.”
Such a young boy. It’s sad how people take the laws into their own hands. May God Almighty who is allkowning grant him mercy and the peace that he deserves, and may God console the family. This is so sad and shouldn’t be repeated. God bless us all. Rest in peace, πππ

The culprits must be brought to justice
