Fake doctor arrested in Yeji after 11 years of illegal practice

Police have arrested a man identified as Hanson Osei for allegedly posing as a medical doctor without any formal training for more than a decade.

According to reports, the suspect was picked up on September 28, 2025, at Yeji Zongo, where he had been running an unlicensed clinic in the Bono East region.

Investigations revealed that Hanson operated from a rented, dilapidated chamber-and-hall apartment which he converted into a makeshift medical facility, equipped with just three beds.

Residents recall that he was once a local footballer who played for Yeji Elfs during their days in the Premier League.

However, for the past 11 years, he allegedly posed as a doctor, administering injections, setting up drips, and treating unsuspecting patients.

He only referred cases to proper hospitals when they were beyond his ability to handle.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted that he had never received training from any recognised medical school but had nonetheless been offering medical services to the community.

Police say investigations are ongoing, and Hanson will be charged with impersonation and unlawful medical practice.
