MultiChoice Ghana (DStv) has announced an adjustment to its subscription fees, with an average increase of 15% across all packages, effective April 1, 2025.

This marks the third price hike in just over a year, following two increases in 2024 that sparked widespread dissatisfaction among subscribers.

Consumer advocacy group CUTS International has raised concerns over the short notice given to customers, urging DStv to adopt a more transparent and customer-friendly approach to pricing changes.

“The short notice period may not have allowed subscribers adequate time to review their options or make necessary adjustments. Respect for consumers is fundamental in any market, especially when services are paid for in advance and on a recurring basis,” CUTS International stated in a press release.

The group emphasized that timely and transparent communication about price changes is not only fair but essential for building trust and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Similar concerns arose in Nigeria when MultiChoice attempted a price hike there, leading to a strong backlash and eventual rejection of the increase.

As Ghanaians react to the latest adjustment, questions remain about whether MultiChoice Ghana will address consumer concerns or proceed with the planned increase as scheduled.
