Residents in several parts of Kumasi have been left without a regular water supply following a burst pipe on the main distribution line near the Police Depot at Patasi in the Ashanti Region.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, December 26, 2025, has disrupted water flow to communities including Santasi, Kokoben, Atonsu and Gyinyaase.
Since then, many households have had to rely on stored water or seek alternative sources as taps remain dry in some areas.
Ghana Water Limited says its technical teams were quickly deployed after the fault was detected and are working continuously to repair the damaged pipeline and restore supply.
The company expects water flow to return to affected communities as soon as repair works are completed.
The disruption has added to existing concerns among residents, especially as the incident follows a recent blast at the Barekese Water Treatment Plant that also affected water distribution in parts of the region.
For many households, the back to back challenges have made daily routines such as cooking, cleaning and personal hygiene more difficult.
The Ashanti Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission has assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation.
The regulator says it is engaging Ghana Water Limited and will share updates with stakeholders as more details become available.
“Efforts are underway to stabilize the system and improve flows to affected communities,” Ghana Water Limited said in a statement, while appealing to customers to conserve water during the period.
The company has also urged the public to promptly report any leakages or burst pipes to its main call centres to help prevent further losses.
