Court orders immediate arrest of suspect Harman over GH₵300k post-dated cheques
The Kaneshie District Court has issued a warrant for the immediate arrest of a suspect, Umit Harman.
The 38-year-old suspect is wanted by the Economic Crime Unit at the CID Headquarters to assist in an ongoing case of defrauding by false pretences.
It is alleged that Harman issued post-dated cheques amounting to GH₵338,000.00, which were subsequently dishonoured at the bank.
These cheques were provided by the suspect as payment for quantities of air-conditioners and TV sets.
After the cheques bounced, Harman went into hiding, and efforts to trace his whereabouts have thus far been unsuccessful.
Authorities believe that he may be in hiding in various locations, including Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, Eastern Region, or its environs, although he was last spotted in Accra.
The police are urging anyone with information about Harman’s whereabouts to come forward and contact the Economic Crime Unit at the CID Headquarters.
The contact information for reporting his location is provided in the official press release.
