Public sector workers have been warned to update their Ghana Card details or face suspension of their salaries from March 15, 2026, following a directive from the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department.
In a letter dated February 11, 2026, the Department said that the rollout of an upgraded e-Payslip platform exposed mismatches between National Identification Authority numbers on the payroll and official records held by the National Identification Authority.
Human Resource Departments of affected institutions have been asked to reconcile the data immediately to ensure every employee on the mechanised payroll is properly linked to their verified biometric identity.
The affected institutions include: Ghana Education Service, Ghana Health Service, Judicial Service of Ghana, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Electoral Commission of Ghana and Ghana Audit Service.
Workers are encouraged to liaise with their HR departments before the March 15 deadline to avoid salary disruptions.
