John Dramani Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has officially assumed office as the President of Ghana.
On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Mr Mahama took the oath of allegiance and the presidential oath to officially take over the reins of government.
Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang also took the oath of office and the vice presidential oath, solidifying her position as Ghana’s first female vice president.
The occasion was marked by colour, cultural, and military displays, which attracted people from all walks of life.
Aside from Ghanaians, the historic event held at the Black Star Square in Accra welcomed 21 African heads of state and other foreign dignitaries.
