The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has cautioned the general public against the rise in job scams in Ghana in recent weeks.
A statement issued by the CSA said the authority has received at least 15 reports of such cases adding that victims have lost over GH₵124,000 so far.
It said the scammers send messages through SMS, emails, and other messaging platforms posing as recruiters.
They advertise remote and part-time high-paying jobs to dupe unsuspecting victims.
The CSA added that these messages are riddled with poor grammar, spelling mistakes, or unprofessional communication.
They warned the public to be skeptical of advertisements that promise high-paying jobs requiring minimal work.
“If it seems too good to be true, it’s likely a scam,” the statement said.
It further urged job-seekers to verify job advertisements directly with the company’s official website or contact information and avoid sharing personal or financial information unless they are certain of the legitimacy of the prospective employer.
“Avoid relying solely on communication through email or instant messaging.”
