During his tenure as Vice President from 2017 to 2025, he championed Ghana’s digitalisation agenda, which has often been cited as a model within the region.

His advocacy for technology-driven governance aligns closely with the summit’s focus on artificial intelligence and cross-border integration.

One of his most referenced speeches on this subject was delivered at the Ghana Digital Economy Summit, where he highlighted the role of digital infrastructure in improving public service delivery.

Under his leadership, Ghana introduced several key digital initiatives, including the Ghana Card (national digital ID), mobile money interoperability, and digitised public services platforms.

These interventions significantly improved financial inclusion and reduced bureaucratic inefficiencies. His push for a cash-lite economy and integrated payment systems laid the groundwork for discussions around AI-driven economies and seamless cross-border transactions in Africa.

Dr. Bawumia has consistently argued that Africa’s development hinges on leveraging technology to break down artificial barriers between countries.

His address will likely reinforce the need for collaboration, innovation, and policy alignment as Africa navigates the rapidly evolving digital age.
