FC Ashantigold have terminated the contracts of head coach and technical director Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito and two other members of the technical team with immediate effect.
The decision was announced in a statement issued by the club on Tuesday, October 27, following a consultative meeting of the Interim Management Committee held on Monday, October 26, 2026.
Assistant coach Ernest Okyere and goalkeeper trainer Robert Dabo are the other officials affected by the decision.
The club confirmed that a caretaker coach has been appointed to take charge of the team temporarily while management works towards appointing a substantive head coach and technical director.
Ashantigold did not provide specific reasons for the termination of the contracts in the statement but reports available to Ghana Report Sports allege continuous friction between the head coach, Karim Zito and the two assistant coaches.
Management, however, expressed appreciation to the three officials for their contributions and service to the club, wishing them well in their future endeavours.
The changes mark a fresh development in the technical setup of the Obuasi-based club as they prepare to move forward under interim leadership.
Further details regarding the identity of the caretaker coach and the appointment of a permanent technical head are expected to emerge as the club implements the changes.
