Ashaiman robbery: Deceased was a trader, not military officer
The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 47-year-old man who was stabbed to death at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.
Earlier reports suggested the victim was a military officer, but the latest information from the police indicates that the deceased, identified as Eric Baidoo, was a trader.
He was allegedly stabbed by an assailant on Thursday, 15th February 2024.
The lifeless body of Eric was found near Goodness Filling Station at the Ashaiman main trotro station at about 4:30 am.
According to another trader at the Ashaiman main trotro station, Yaw Kwakye, he heard some criminals attack the victim, but he resisted and refused to hand over his bag and other items.
In the ensuing struggle, the victim was allegedly stabbed in the stomach.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The Tema Regional Police Commander led a police delegation to commiserate with the family of the deceased and assured them of a thorough investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, an intelligence-led operation is underway to get the perpetrator(s) arrested to face justice.
