An armed robber who was arrested by the police at Sefwi Nketieso in the Western Region has been handed a 16-year jail term.
This was after the convict Isaac Addae pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him when he was arraigned before court.
On 29 May 2022, Addae is said to have visited his victim, a gold buyer, under the pretext of selling him some gold.
When the victim took him to his room to weigh the said gold, he pulled out a knife, stabbed him, and robbed him of an amount of GHC15,000.00 and a mobile phone.
“Because he has been duly convicted, we have displayed his image in line with our new standard operating procedure. Any member of the public who can recognise any of them in connection with other crimes should kindly contact the nearest police station for further action,” the release added.
The police further assured the public about its readiness to continue to fight crime and bring criminals to face justice.
There appears to be a surge in reported cases of armed robbery across the country, resulting in increased police visibility across the various communities.
