Violence erupted at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday following Ghana’s surprising 1-0 loss to Angola in the 2025 AFCON qualifier.

The defeat marked the end of Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten streak at the stadium.

Frustrated fans, who had struggled to watch their team create scoring opportunities on the poor pitch, expressed their discontent by throwing plastic bottles onto the field after Felicio Milson’s late goal sealed Angola’s victory.

As the game concluded, some fans stormed the pitch, damaging wooden panels and breaching the inner perimeter.

Earlier, enthusiastic fans had forced their way into the stadium by breaking through a gate at the T.I. Ahmadiyya end, hinting at the intense emotions that would later boil over into chaos.

Ghana’s next match is against Niger on Monday, September 9, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco, scheduled for 15:00 GMT.

This will be an exciting match, as Ghana aims to recover from their recent loss to Angola.
