Akufo-Addo Congratulates Erdoğan On His Re-election As President Of Turkey
Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Tayyip Erdoğan on his re-election as President of the Republic of Türkiye.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is the 12th and current president of Turkey, who has held the office since 28 August 2014. He was re-elected for a 3rd term on 28 May 2023, which is set to last until May 2028.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the country’s Supreme Election Council and unofficial data from the state-run Anadolu Agency, got into a tense run-off after he failed to secure more than 50 percent of votes required for an outright victory in the first round on May 14.
With almost all of the votes counted, Erdogan received 52.14 percent of votes in the second round on Sunday, beating his challenger, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who won 47.86 percent.
In a tweet, President Akufo-Addo said “The Ghanaian people and I extend warm congratulations to H.E Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (@RTErdogan) on his re-election as President of the Republic of Türkiye.
“I look forward to working with him and his administration to strengthen and deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation that exist between our two countries, which have been based on a shared agenda of freedom, development, progress, and prosperity.”
