Akufo-Addo begins Greater Accra regional tour

President Nana Akufo-Addo, will from today (Tuesday), November 22, begin a two-day tour of the Greater Accra Region.

The tour will begin with the commissioning of the first phase of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange meant to reduce the gridlock to and from the central business district.

From there, the President will proceed to the Kaneshie Market to interact with traders, drivers and the general public.

The President’s tour of the Greater Accra is meant to drum home why the swing region must support the NPP’s quest for a second term.

It will be the President’s second tour of the region within a month.

In October, he was on a tour of the Odododiodoo and Kpone Katamanso constituencies among others.

With the NPP having almost a cult following in the Okaikoi constituencies, President Akufo-Addo would want to interact with spare parts dealers and artisans in Kokompe in the Okaikoi South constituency to talk them out of any form of apathy at a time some of them have raised concerns about the government’s new automobile policy.

He is also expected to do a whistle-stop at Abeka Market in the Okaikoi Central Constituency.

He will continue to Anyaa market in the Anyaa- Sowutuom Constituency and interact with Chiefs and identifiable groups at Ofankor in the Trobu Constituency. President Akufo-Addo will engage identifiable groups and the general public at Amasaman, Kotoku and Oduman to end the day’s tour.

On the second day, the President’s tour will begin in Ablekuma West Constituency, where he will attend a memorial service in honour of the Late Theresa Amerley Tagoe at Dansoman Roundabout.

A matriarch of the NPP who was also known as ‘Iron Lady’ Ms Tagoe was a former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South and was instrumental in the formation of the New Patriotic Party’s women’s wing, once serving as the women’s organiser.

She was also the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister and Deputy Minister of Lands, Forestry and Mines during the Kufuor administration.

After the dirges, the President will head to Ablekuma North Constituency for stopovers at the Mallam Market and Odorkor Lorry Station to meet traders, drivers and the general public before he proceeds to Agbobloshie to hold a durbar with northern chiefs, market leaders and identifiable groups at the Forecourt of Fio Enterprise.

The tour will also take him to Dome-Kwabenya where he will engage market women and residents’ associations from Old Ashongman, Abladjei, Agbogba and Teiman at the Ahmadiya School. He will also interact with Chiefs and identifiable groups and residents at Atomic Park.

The President will end his tour of the region in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency where he will interact with traders, drivers and the general public.
