Agradaa’s 15-year jail sentence slashed to one year

The Amasaman High Court has reduced Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Agradaa or Mama Pat, from a 15-year prison sentence to 12 months and has been fined GH¢2,400.

The court delivered this ruling today, February 5, 2026, after partially upholding Agradaa’s appeal, which contested her sentence imposed by the Accra Circuit Court, arguing that she was not given a fair trial and that her sentence was excessively severe.

Agradaa had been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment for each of two counts of defrauding by false pretences, with the court mandating that Agradaa serve the two sentences concurrently.

Additionally, the convict was fined GH¢300 for misleading advertising.

The conviction and sentence arose from a televised broadcast in 2022, during which Agradaa claimed she was prepared to distribute GH¢300,000 to the needy during a church service, but instead collected various amounts of money from individuals without distributing any funds.
